The Way Forward
The systems level approach to faecal sludge management (FSM) developed in this book should be seen as a building block for the future design and operation of functional and sustainable FSM systems. FSM is a new and rapidly growing fi eld, and improvements and gains in knowledge are rapidly occurring. These advances will continue to build upon each other and improve solutions and approaches for FSM.
